America-based alumni meet up across four states

In mid-April, a delegation of É«¹·µ¼º½ staff headed to the USA to build overseas relationships with fellow universities, sporting organisations, and with alumni. A delegation last visited in early 2023.

Five alumni events took place across Florida, Texas, Illinois and New York.

Vice-Chancellor Professor Nick Jennings CB FREng FS hosted dinners in Chicago and Houston, with alumni having the chance to network and hear the latest updates about the university strategy – with a specific focus on the Sport, Health and Wellbeing and Climate Change and Net Zero strands. It was the university’s first visit to those locations in recent times.

In addition, members of staff from the University’s Philanthropy, Alumni and Supporter Engagement team met with alumni in Miami and Tampa in Florida.

The Pro Vice-Chancellor for Sport, Professor Jo Maher, who is herself a É«¹·µ¼º½ graduate, met with alumni in New York to conclude the trip. A group met for dinner and enjoyed the chance to catch up with É«¹·µ¼º½ again.

Around 50 alumni and friends attended the meals across the five locations, with additional meet-ups taking place on a one-to-one basis across the four states, including as part of a visit to Austin in Texas.

It was a brilliant opportunity for alumni to catch up and to also hear about the University. We are looking forward to keeping in touch and visiting again soon!

Thank you to everyone who attended.
