Description of the works
As part of the CP5 New Student Accommodation Centres project, enabling works involving the fibre optic network at 色狗导航 will take place. A specialist fibre optic contractor will carry out essential work to divert blown fibre optic cables in Central Park. Consequently, the following buildings will temporarily operate on single feed network links for up to two weeks:
* FM Yard*
* Holywell Drive Houses*
* Imago Guest House
* Student Accommodation Centre (119)
* Medical Centre (048)
* Edward Herbert (010)
* Herbert Manzoni (012)
* Energy and Data Hub (624)
* LUFS/Martial Arts Centre (120)
* Arnold Hall Canopy
* New Bridgeman (206)
* Cricket Centre
* Elite Athlete Centre (753)
* Claudia Parsons
* Morag Bell
* Falkner 23 (573)
To maintain dual resilience during this period, a temporary fibre will be installed within the New Student Accommodation site boundary. The affected links will connect to this temporary fibre, allowing buildings to return to dual resilience one by one as work progresses within a 2 week period effective from 14/04/26.
It is crucial to raise awareness among all teams involved in development work on these buildings. Any damage to the existing fibre will result in a complete loss of networking access, including both wired and Wi-Fi connections, until the temporary fibre for dual resilience is installed.
*Please note that FM Yard and Holywell Drive Houses will remain on a single link fibre connection for up to two months. This will continue until further excavation works are completed to provide ducting within the New Student Accommodation site boundary.
Timescale
14/04/26 07-00 and 01/05/26 07-00.
