Christmas travel – student eVisa information

Long-term immigration permission such as a Student visa generally allows re-entry to the UK on multiple occasions throughout the period it remains valid. This allows travel for example at vacation time.

Given concerns about how the transition to eVisa travel may work, the . This assumes that your immigration permission is still in place at the time of travel. The  has said it will keep this arrangement under review and advise:

  • passengers whose immigration permission is still valid but whose BRP expires on or after 31 December should continue to carry their expired BRP with them when they travel in the early part of 2025;
  • passengers may also wish to create a in advance of travel, which is valid for 90 days.

While you hold a Student visa you do not require permission from the University to travel, there is no UK requirement for a letter of consent or ‘no objection letter’. If you wish to travel with confirmation of your student status, you can obtain a Certificate of Registration from Student Self-Service or if necessary, contact Student Records & Operations, London Student Services or the Doctoral College Office as appropriate. If you are travelling outside of vacation time please ensure you continue to satisfy any attendance requirements.
