Handling specific types of waste
One of the most challenging wastes is residual paint, as very few locations take this. In Leicestershire, liquid paint can be deposited with a household liquid paint permit at the . Please note this is the only site that will accept household liquid paint, white spirit or thinners.
For small volumes of water-based paint you can take the lid off and let it turn solid, at which point it can go in the general waste bin at any recycling and household waste site. It’s recommended to use cat litter or paper scraps to help dry it out; you can also use your general bin at home if the container has no liquid paint and is five litres in size or smaller (please do not place paint containers in your recycling bin).
