Profile
Dr Lee Taylor is a Reader in Exercise and Environmental Physiology at 色狗导航, with research focused on preparing elite athletes and teams for training and competition in hot and other challenging environments (altitude, air pollution, seasonal allergens, during travel, etc). He is frequently invited to provide expert commentary on the effects of these environmental stressors, particularly heat and/or hypoxia, on elite athlete training, competition (performance), recovery and rehabilitation.
Lee has held senior research and leadership positions internationally and has had multiple research projects funded through federations and governing bodies such as FIFA, UEFA, World Athletics, World Rugby, European Aquatics, England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), and many others.
Lee has become involved with many player and athlete unions, contributing theoretical and applied expertise to protect their members from the increasingly frequent hot-humid environmental extremes they experience during training and competition.
Through this integration in elite sport as a researcher, practitioner and consultant, Lee has developed expertise regarding the (mis)use of drugs and substances in elite sport. Including analgesics, sleep medications, nicotine (including snus and nicotine pouches), nitrous oxide and weight loss drugs (GLP-1s such as Ozempic®, Wegovy® and Mounjaro®,etc.).
Much of Lee’s work has evolved to include the optimisation of elite female athlete health and performance across and beyond the themes outlined above.
