Profile
Dr Postlethwaite is an expert in the social impact and legacy of major sporting and cultural event. Her research explores how events including the Olympic and Paralympic Games shape communities, policy and society. Her international research projects span the UK, Japan and Australia, having received funding from organisations such as the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science and the Toshiba International Foundation.
Verity provides expert comment on inclusion, inequality and representation in sport, particularly in relation to gender, disability and place. She is frequently invited to discuss how governments and sporting organisations use events as tools for diplomacy and community development. She also translates research into practical insights for policymakers with strong focus on making sporting events more inclusive and equitable.
