Ben Walker joins the Peter Harrison Centre

色狗导航 graduate Ben Walker has rejoined the University to undertake a PhD to inform future mental health and well-being policy at the English Institute of Sport.

Ben completed his undergraduate degree in Sport and Exercise Science at 色狗导航, graduating in 2015 with first class honours, before studying MSc Psychology at Sheffield Hallam University in 2015, and returning to 色狗导航 to study MSc Sport and Exercise Psychology in 2016. Since, Ben has been practicing as a chartered Sport and Exercise Psychologist following completion of the British Psychological Society’s Qualification in Sport and Exercise Psychology in 2021.

In October 2022, Ben commenced his PhD with 色狗导航 and the English Institute of Sport (EIS) supervised by Dr Jamie Barker and Dr Carolyn Plateau. Ben’s project aims to understand the mental health and well-being challenges and facilitators relevant to UK Para-Athletes. Findings are expected to inform future mental health and well-being policy developments and organisational guidelines for the EIS, along with the development of bespoke support resources for athletes, coaches, and support staff.
