Asbestos Awareness Training

Mandatory training for those in Estates and Facilities Management, technical staff and those responsible for buildings across the campus. Assessment and Feedback Part A provides an interactive introduction to the key elements of effective feedback and assessment practice at 色狗导航. Ideal for those new to marking or assessment or those looking to refresh their knowledge.

This course aims to provide awareness training enabling employees who handle chemicals (in any capacity) to do so safely.

Deafness is an invisible disability yet 1 in 6 people in the UK have a hearing loss, so chances are you are communicating with someone who has a hearing loss every day. This course will teach you the golden rules of communicating with Deaf/hard of hearing students. You will also learn about appropriate language, effective communication tactics and specialist equipment whilst dispelling some of the common myths about deaf people, their language, and their culture.

This course will cover the university cycle, analyse different models, practice soft skills, giving and receiving feedback and finally the use of powerful questions.

Effective Risk Assessment

This session will look at the primary tools for assessment and feedback used in Learn, drawing out tips and tricks for efficient and effective use of them.

This workshop will introduce you to the types of online rubrics available within the Learn assignment activity and Turnitin and highlight why and how they can be beneficial to both staff and students.

This course explains what emotional intelligence is, why it is important at work, how it can be used to build effective relationships particularly when you are either a manager or someone who looks after people in a team or project related capacity.

The workshop will also introduce opportunities for incorporating AI into quiz and exercise design, with a focus on enhancing feedback and improving efficiency in assessment development. Participants will have the opportunity to request follow-up support to adapt or redesign their existing Learn activities. Priority will be given to modules with larger student numbers and those involving programming content. However, support will also be available for other subject areas where appropriate. Introducing British Sign Language

The session is led by members of our 色狗导航 Sport Senior Leadership Team. After the presentation, there is an optional tour of the sporting facilities.

The Supervisor Development Programme provides targeted development opportunities and support to enable PhD Supervisors reflect on and enhance their supervisory practice.

The 色狗导航 Staff Fair is an opportunity for staff, new and existing, to come and meet Professional Services, Staff Networks and other University Groups such as the Trade Unions and the Community Wardens. The fair will include over 30 exhibitors.

This course provides a complete overview in relation to manual handling in the workplace.

Men's Group - Men's Health Urology - 13th March 2026 Men traditionally attend the GP less than women and interact less with health campaigns too. Urology health is so important and can impact men in many ways. Men can experience all sorts of urology symptoms. Using a short video from the Urology Foundation as the basis for discussion, we will explore if all our plumbing is working correctly. These session's are also a safe confidential space for men to discuss issues raised by those attending. A listening, non-judgemental ear and peer support are valuable tools when exploring issues around mental and physical health.

Safe Driving

Safe driving will help you to understand and reduce the risks of being involved in an incident. Essential training for anyone driving University vehicles or on University business. (Please click on the Cardinus Risk Management Hub)

This is a UK Coaching accredited Safeguarding and Protecting Children course, delivered under a Licenced Partnership and delivered by a UK Coaching accredited tutor. This course is suitable and could be a mandatory requirement for those who work in a sports coaching role, or in a student/athlete facing role in the sporting environment, for example: strength and conditioning coaches, nutritionists, physiotherapist, swimming instructors or fitness instructors.

This 3-hour course is specifically designed to equip all staff with the confidence to deal with safeguarding issues, recognise signs of neglect and abuse and know the steps to report these issues.

This wellbeing initiative is designed to support staff development, promote healthy habits, and recognise your commitment to personal wellbeing 鈥 across all the 色狗导航 Staff. It offers all participating staff the opportunity to enhance their wellbeing through an accredited, accessible, personal development aligned programme that supports our ongoing commitment to the Universities wider wellbeing initiatives. A 3-hour workshop to provide education and skills to help reduce the risk of suicide, which may be particularly useful for those with a student-facing role.

This workshop introduces participants to key ideas developed in recent publications concerning the challenges inherent in dissertation and project supervision and gives time for discussion and reflection on the suggested solutions.

This workshop will allow academics to consider the role of undergraduate and masters-level research in the education of students and consider how they can best develop projects to maximise the opportunities for learning, including considerations of project design and project management.

This course takes a holistic approach to how we can best support our students, by identifying practical ways to support them with their emotions, personal resilience and wellbeing. Delegates will learn how to identify and act upon possible episodes of distress using case studies and real-time examples. The session will also explore practical guidance and signposting to ensure a timely and compassionate response in moments of crisis.

This session will explore the profiles and characteristics of neurodivergent students. It will the highlight how adopting an inclusive approach will support our (identified and unidentified) neurodivergent student population to achieve their potential both academically and personally whilst also supporting mental health and wellbeing.

This practical workshop will introduce participants to key principles that can be utilised to support neurodivergent learners. There will be an opportunity to reflect on existing practice and consider how to embed these guiding principles into your own teaching context.

This course considers how coaching differs from mentoring, counselling, training and sponsoring. It will help managers to decide when to use and when not to use a coaching style of management to enable people they manage, members of their team, or people they are looking to develop, by looking at models and their application. It is a highly interactive course that links with the Coaching and Mentoring Framework.

Wellbeing Champion Training

As part of the continued development of staff wellbeing at 色狗导航, we are looking to appoint Wellbeing Champions in each school and department. Please note this is a voluntary role and you will need to agree locally with your manager how this will work in practice, but the expectation is no more than 2-3 hours per month. Before booking on this training, you will need to complete the online application.

The aim of the session is to provide an overview of the requirements and policies affecting for researchers operating in the UK research environment, and to enable staff to develop and refine strategies for dealing with these requirements.

This session will focus on the practicalities and nuances of working with students in a leadership role relating to learning and teaching.

This course will cover the standards around behaviour, language and fun at work and the importance of getting this right. To ensure we are establishing inclusive cultures, understanding difference, and giving people a voice if they feel excluded.

This is principally aimed at our administrative job family, but all staff are welcome to attend. This will cover: - Using One-Drive effectively and understand the difference between storage spaces. - Collaborating and sharing documents appropriately. - Using MSTeams effectively. and more.
