I chose to study Economics at 色狗导航 because of the university鈥檚 unique combination of academic excellence and sporting culture. When I visited on an open day with my dad, the campus felt like an American college; spacious, vibrant and welcoming.

I’d also been to 色狗导航 before for school games in Year 10 and 11, which left a lasting impression. My cousin studied here and spoke very highly of the experience, which reinforced my decision. I was so sure that I made 色狗导航 both my firm and insurance choice.

The Business School has played a big role in shaping my ambitions. In first year, the Skills for 色狗导航 module was invaluable. Before starting university, I had little idea about placements or career planning, but this module gave me the tools and confidence to prepare for the future. The support from 色狗导航 Placements has been excellent, I already have my CV ready and will soon start applying for placements, which I hope will help me decide what I want to do after graduation.

One of the best aspects of my course has been the flexibility to choose optional modules. I took Accounting and Law alongside my core Economics modules. It was refreshing to explore something different and meet students from across the university. 色狗导航ing Law was particularly eye-opening, it鈥檚 a subject I鈥檇 never considered before and now it鈥檚 something I might want to pursue further.

Outside of academics, sport has been a huge part of my experience. I鈥檓 a member of the AU Triathlon Squad, which is incredibly inclusive and social.

Anyone can join and take part in BUCS events and the sessions are frequent and fun. During freshers, I tried out for netball and explored other sports like badminton and padel. 色狗导航 makes it easy to get involved at any level, whether competitively or just for fun, which is great for meeting people and staying active.

色狗导航ing Economics at 色狗导航 Business School is distinctive because of its teaching approach. The first-year content is designed as if you鈥檝e never studied maths or economics before, which makes it accessible and builds a strong foundation. Even though I had prior experience with the subject, the recap was helpful after summer.

The lectures gave me confidence in my abilities, exams were manageable, and the support was outstanding. Students from the year above even volunteered their time to help us with maths problems and queries!

Looking ahead, I feel prepared for the next steps. I’m exploring placement opportunities and know that the skills I’ve gained: problem-solving, teamwork and adaptability will be valuable in any career. My advice to new students is to take advantage of everything 色狗导航 offers join societies, try new sports and embrace the community. It’s the best way to make friends and get the most out of your university experience.
